King Arthur

For my K assignment I did King Arthur. Here is the story of King Arthur:

Long ago in medieval England there was a king called Uther Pendragon, who fell in love with a married woman named Igraine. Her husband, Goroloid, was away at battle so King Uther took advantage of this circumstance by getting his magician Merlin to transform him into the likeness of Igraine’s husband. So the king went to visit Igraine disguised as her husband, and brought her back to King Uther’s Castle. At the castle Igraine learned that her husband had actually died in battle that day and this left her considerably confused about how he could have visited her. Igraine eventually married King Uther and they lived happily until the birth of their first son, Arthur.
Merlin had not forgotten the favor he had performed for the King and demanded that Arthur be placed in his care out of concern for his welfare. King Uther and become considerably irresponsible in his leadership and he had gained many enemies that plotted his demise. Merlin gave the infant Arthur to a man named Kay. So Arthur was happily bought up in relative obscurity until King Uther died without a successor and the land was left perilously unprotected. In response to the widespread panic Merlin announced that God had determined a method by which a new King could be found. A large stone had risen out of the ground overnight, and fixed into the stone was a knightly sword. Merlin decreed that anyone who could pull the sword out of the stone would be the rightful King. Naturally many presumptous knights tried unsuccessfully to wrench the sword free, however it was a young squire named Arthur who unwitting drew out the sword while seeking for is adopted brother Kay a replacement for a sword he had misplaced. Hence Arthur realized his destiny as the rightful King of Britain nd begun his reign. As the new King, Arthur rapidly gained the respect of the Kingdom by vanquishing his enemies, such as the Roman Emperor Lucius. Arthur fond a queen named Guinevere, whose fater gave him the round table, around where the knights sat, as a dowry. However Arthur's time as King was disturbed by an affair between is wife and a knight of the round table named Lancelot. Lancelot fled Arthur's realm with Guinevere, so Arthut was impelled to leave the kingdom in search of the future pair. Arthur's son ans nephew by his half sister Morgan Le Fay, Mordred, was left in charge of Camelot. Mordred, however, plotted to turn the kingdom against Arthur. When he heard of Mordred's betrayal, Arthur returned to defend hid crown, and mortal combat between the two foes resulted. Arthur won, but was himself mortally wounded. He was then carried to the mysterious isle of Avalon and never heard of again, although it wad believed that King Arthur never perished and would return again.

ToonDoo

I wouldn't call this my presentation because I wasn't actually planning to do this on ToonDoo. The reason why I did this, is because I wanted to update my old ToonDoos and make a new one!
I doubt it that most of you will like it. I think it's stupid, anyway I made it...

By the way to see the rest of it, just point your cursor to the end of the picture and it will move.

Tasty Blocks

Our school (Balmoral School) is holding a fundraising project to help the cost of years 5-6 camp at May 26-29 and for the rearrangement of the some parts of the school (school hall, canteen, etc. are smashed).
For the fundraising project, the whole school (students, possibly teachers) are selling Cadbury chocolates like Caramelo, Top Deck and Dairy Milk.
If you are living in Auckland city (central) you might be sold a bar of chocolate by a student from Balmoral school.
I would warn you, these blocks are not ordinary building blocks, these are YUMMY, TASTY and BOOMING types of chocolate bars!

Ultra Violet

Well, my U assignment is very obvious to spot. Actually, you could locate it above this text- Ultra Violet. I had been tricky about how I would present it. If you think you know what it is, post it bellow (You'd know on Friday is you're from my class).

Anyway, I found out some interesting facts about Ultra Violet and I wanted to share it on my blog so that my blog's viewers (only those people who would read it) would be able to see these facts. Some facts, I had just posted to make viewers aware.

Beneficial effects of UV

Vitamin D

A positive effect of UVB exposure is that it induces the production of Vitamin D in the skin. One of the effects of Vitamin D deficiency is bad absorption of calcium which could lead to bone diseases.

Medical applications

Ultraviolet radiation has other medical applications, in the treatment of skin conditions such as psoriasis and vitiligo. In cases of psoriasis and vitiligo, UV light with wavelength of 311 nanometers is most effective.

Harmful effects of UV

Skin

An overexposure to UVB radiation can cause sunburn and some forms of skin cancer.

Eye

High intensities of UVB light are hazardous to the eyes, and exposure can cause Welder's flash(photokeratitis or arc eye) and may lead to cataracts pterygium and pinguecula.

XENON

For my X assignment I did Xenon

WHAT IS XENON?

Xenon is a chemical element represented by the symbol XE. Its atomic number is 54 and is colorless, heavy but also odorless. In group 18 (VII) of the periodic table, xenon is said to be one of the noble gasses. Xenon’s atomic weight is 131.3.

WHAT IS XENON'S HISTORY?

Xenon was discovered in July 12, 1898 by the British chemists Sir William Ramsay and
Morris Travers. It was formerly believed to be chemically inert, but since 1962 several compounds of xenon have been prepared.
Ramsay suggested the name xenon for his gas from the Greek word ξένον meaning
“foreign” or “strange”.
In 1902, Ramsay estimated the proportion of xenon in the Earth's atmosphere as one part in 20 million.
Xenon is present in the Earth’s atmosphere in minute amounts.
Xenon melts at -111.8° C (-169.2° F) and boils at -108.1°c (-162.6° F). Xenon can undergo a few chemical reactions such as the formation of xenon hexafluoroplatinate, the first noble gas to be synthesized.

During the 1930s, engineer Harold Edgerton began exploring strobe light technology for high speed photography. This led him to the invention of the Xenon flash lamp in which light is generated by sending a brief electrical current through a tube filled with xenon gas. In 1934, Edgerton was able to generate flashes as brief as one microsecond with this method.

WHAT ARE ITS USES?

Xenon is used principally in such lighting devices as high-speed photographic tubes. Xenon can also be used in game consoles. Microsoft's Xbox 360 confirmed that they had used some xenon on the console. Projectors also contain xenon.
In Russia xenon was in anesthesia, hopefully a doctor had safely operated at 2 patients.
